12-year-old New Mexico girl popped for DWI
Police in Alamagordo, New Mexico, caught a 12-year-old girl being popped for a DWI after a police chase on tape, and the whole thing is, well, as crazy as it sounds.
Here’s what happened. The middle school driver was popped earlier this month after police spotted a suspicious vehicle and attempted to pull it over, according to KRQE out of Albuquerque. The vehicle took off at a high rate of speed before losing control while attempting to make a turn. The car then plowed into a street sign which shattered the front windshield. The car then came very close to hitting two police cars.
Police obviously did not expect to find a drunk 12-year-old behind the wheel, but that’s exactly what happened. The girl also had in tow three of her friends, ages 12 and 13. All three reeked of booze, according to the cops – Smirnoff, to be exact.
According to the report from KRQE, the 12-year-old driver from Tularosa told cops she’d gotten the car by waiting for her grandfather to fall asleep. She then took his car to pick up her friends so they could get their literal swerve on. Officers found Twisted-brand hard iced teas and Smirnoff in the car during their search, according to the report.
The completely underage driver was charged with a DWI and leading police on a chase, and all four tweens were charged with underage drinking. We can’t even snark on this. Thank Beelzebub no one was hurt. This could have gone so much worse.
