Strain review: Ascend CBD Diamonds
There’s nothing quite like a solid dose of CBD to put some pep in your step, but as I sit here going over my notes to write this review, I still feel like I was knocked straight onto my ass due to the CBD Diamonds I vaped last night.
Let me explain.
This week, we tried Ascend’s CBD Diamonds, a high CBD extract, courtesy of our friends at Prohibition Herb.
Ascend is apparently pretty tight-lipped about, and very proud of, their secret methodology for what goes into making their CBD Diamonds, so unfortunately, we don’t have much to share as far as what all goes into this magical concoction.
Here’s what we do know.
We went with a blend that includes Durban Poison, a sativa that originated from South Africa. It’s a strain that will give you a boost of energy and smells (and tastes) incredibly sweet. This specific blend contains a 4:1 ratio of CBD:THC – a higher ratio than some of the other Ascend blends, which are about 100:1.
It’s crystallized without the use of solvents, and cannabis terpenes are encased within each of the pretty diamonds.
CBD Diamonds concentrate looks like angel dust, but not the drug that makes you hallucinate and fight everyone. We’re talking sparkly matter from the wings of celestial beings. Or maybe fairy dust? Regardless, the crystals in this concentrate look out of this world beautiful.
To enjoy the full spectrum of the extract, you should dab or vape at a low temperature.
I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect when I smoked this, as extracts with larger amounts of CBD tend to be a hit or miss for me. I was, fortunately, not disappointed.
Unfortunately, since I was worried I wouldn’t experience the full effects of the extract, I smoked waaaaaay too much of it (this is not unusual for me, btw). But, hear me out. This concentrate tastes amazing. As soon as I took my first inhale, I was immediately struck by how sweet the smoke that filled my lungs tasted. It was a floral and citrus flavor, and I was immediately enamored. As much as I love a good smoke, there are few times where I think to myself, “Wow, this actually tastes delicious.” And I can tell you, this was the case with this extract.
This concentrate also gave me a pleasant head high. My brain felt as though it were wrapped in a warm blanket, free from all cares. Apparently, though, that included not listening to people when they spoke to me and confusing a conversation I had with someone about a “spring trap,” which I heard as “space truck.” I still have no idea what that conversation was about.
Among my notes are complaints about how I had “I Got Five on It” by Luniz stuck in my head. “Really loud music in my head,” I wrote on my phone. “Can’t stop dancing.”
I was also apparently very upset about the fact that I did not have ice cream when sober me knows that, in fact, I do have ice cream in my freezer. “I want ice cream why don’t I have ice cream,” my notes say.
All of my senses felt incredibly heightened. I could hear the music in my head so clearly and there was a low buzzing in my ears. I could feel, taste, and hear everything so much more clearly. I was Spiderman, finally. Except I was also very upset that I had to do my laundry.
Basically, I was on Mars when I smoked this concentrate and I am not complaining. Let the magic of Ascend’s concentrate take you away into space and maybe get some good music stuck in your head along the way.
