“Story of My Life: Book and Script Arts”
Where: Sweet 11 Gallery, 863½ Main Ave.
When: 5 p.m. Friday, April 29
Reception includes a poetry and short prose live-read beginning at 5 with the little ones and progressing through the night in age and content to become a full-on adult open mic for expressive spoken word. All forms of expression welcome, including film, paper, performance, sound, etc.

Where: Maria’s Bookshop, 960 Main Ave.
10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 16 local authors are working 2-hour shifts on the floor as booksellers; recommending their favorite books and authors or signing copies of their own work. Buy a book an author recommends to you and get 10 percent off.
1 p.m. Poetry flash mob, gathering to read Joel Jones’ poetry out loud. Jones is a former Fort Lewis College president and local Durango fixture.
4:30 p.m. Andrew Allport and Robert Alan Wendeborn reading from and signing copies of their books of poetry.
