PNKSLM (aka Punk Slime) Recordings is a label out of Stockholm, Sweden, that recently celebrated a fifth year of churning out a slew of great records from an artist roster that includes Swampmeat Family Band, Al Lover, Spice Boys, Holiday Ghosts, and Beach Skulls, just to name a mere few.
The latest release from their already impressive output comes from London noise punks Claw Marks. The five piece, which has a current lineup of heavy riffers who are known by monikers such as Boneyards, Insecure Men, and Human Hair, are apparently a vital part of London’s underground punk scene. They’re already infamous within the scene for their explosive live shows, which have become the “stuff of legend,” according to hometown publication Clash Magazine. The debut record has the chug-heavy swagger of its sludge punk forbearers, but still keeps plenty of muscle and attitude to distinguish the band as very much their own. Standout tracks include the parable of “10,000 Commandments,” the slow burn of spaghetti-western-surf inspired “Horrible Mess,” and the thumping chest-beater, and advance single, “The Rain.” In a tricky feat not often accomplished, the debut album may just live up to, and capture, some of the energy, angst, and passion of their live show.
“Hee Hee” is available Friday, August 17, via PNKSLM Recordings as a digital download (your choice of high quality MP3, FLAC, and more) and on compact disc. There are currently two vinyl versions of the record for your collecting pleasure. The first is an exclusive deluxe package that features a limited edition milky clear with blood red splatter LP, a Claw Marks t-shirt featuring exclusive artwork, and a PNKSLM button badge. The second is another limited vinyl run on standard black. Both vinyl versions are available directly from the label and come with a download of the album.
