Hello again, aliens: “Roswell” reboot reminding all that extraterrestrials are still out there

Hey, 1999 called and it wants choker necklaces back. It also wanted to let you know that The CW’s “Roswell, New Mexico” is coming back. It’s another reboot, baby!

“Everyone small town has a story,” the Comic-Con trailer starts off. “Roswell was a sleepy, cowboy settlement in post-war America until one day something extraordinary happened.”

And if you don’t know the back story of Roswell, then I encourage you to stop reading this blurb and Google “Roswell, New Mexico” and “UFO,” you cave dweller.

This version of “Roswell” is the re-imagining of how it all went down – specifically with aliens living undercover with us humans and a bunch of weird things happening, as you can imagine. This time around, the series will draw from the “Roswell High” book series as opposed to the original show, which aired from 1999-2002 on The WB and UPN.

While some of the show was filmed in Vancouver, most of the series was shot in New Mexico.

“There’s no way you could re-create New Mexico,” Nathan Parsons, an actor in the reboot, told the New York Post. And, no, you really can’t.

The Southwest is rife with stories aside from Roswell, including the 1950 Farmington Armada UFO incident and the 1948 Aztec UFO crash site, to name a few, so we’re excited to see the entertainment industry revisit these stories that are so entrenched in Southwest lore.
