Grand opening at MakerLabThe Powerhouse Science Center is the new locale for Durango’s first makerspace, the MakerLab. Don’t know what the heck a makerspace is? Party at the Powerhouse and find out. Hint: It involves a communal place where inventors, artists, and crafters can create. Writers strike backTough political times require creators willing to speak out. Bayfield’s Pine River Library will host a reading featuring Pam Houston, Pam Uschuk, William Pitt Root, Andrew Allport, and Dick Grossman. Excerpts will be read from the collection “Truth To Power: Writers Respond To The Rhetoric Of Hate And Fear.” The event is hosted by the new Durango literary journal, “Cutthroat.” Proceeds from book sales will benefit the ACLU, Friends of the Earth, and Standing Rock Water Protectors
