And we all, every single one of us, no matter who we are and no matter what’s been taken from us or what poison we’ve internalized or how hard we’ve had to work to expel it – we all get to dream.”
It it more important than ever that diverse dreams, essays, stories, poems, and art reach the page and the stage. Speak your piece at The Sounds of Blackness, an open mic dedicated to honoring black history, black future, and black present from 7-10 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20. Presented by the FLC Black Student Union, this evening of spoken word focused on black excellence is a free, all-ages event located at The Steaming Bean (in the basement of the Irish Embassy Pub, 900 Main Ave.).
