This week, meet two single firefighters who have been busy with the 416 fire. (Both are guys; sorry, fellas.) But while they may be oh-so-busy saving our literal asses, that doesn’t mean they don’t have time to spark a new relationship. It is way too easy to make stupid puns about these smokin’ singles. We cannot contain ourselves. Let’s just meet the hotties before we start talking about hoses.

If you’re interested in setting up a date, email us at [email protected] and tell us about yourself. Maybe it will lead to a date.

If you want to be featured or know somebody who is single and ready for romance, drop us a line.

Spencer Sorensen

Age: 23

Sign: Taurus/Gemini cusp

Occupation: EMT Firefighter

What are you doing for the 416 Fire? My last tour up there, our operation was structural protection, so we patrolled 202 and lined all the structures and houses out there in sprinkler lines. We were pulling from a creek and keeping all the structures moist with water, and then we were watching for spot fires. We cut some line with a dozer between the fire and the structures so there wasn’t a jump over that barrier (and the fire) will get to a structure. We’ve done some back-burning operations, where essentially we do a back burn to eliminate the fuel from the fire. So we’re fighting fire with fire. We are hoping it meets up with the Burro Fire. If they meet up, they eliminate each other’s fuel sources and hopefully put each other out.

Why are you still single?Ha! That’s a good question. I am truthfully over the dating scene. I am to the a point in my life where I’m looking to the future and something serious. I don’t really want to date around. Family to me is a really big deal. I’ve established my career and it’s going well, and I’m looking for the next thing.

What qualities do you look for in a partner? Family, again, is a big deal for me. I want her to be very involved in the family aspect, also having the same ideations of qualities and things we want in the future as far as kids. I like it a lot when a girl is establishing a career or is passionate about something like that. I like it when a girl knows her true value and understands that she’s to be respected. I have two sisters and a mom, and I’ve been raised to treat women right and with the utmost respect.

Spontaneous. Adventurous. I like to be able to drop on a dime and go do something.

What lights your fire? As far as what keeps me going in life is a passion for service, and that’s why I got in the field that I’m in. I really enjoy being in the service of others, whether that is on a small scale or a large aspect. Every day I go to work I’m not saving a life, but it’s the little things – the little acts of kindness – those really drive me on and off the clock. I really enjoy making an impact on people. Over the years, I’ve gotten good at relating to people on different aspects, just because of past experiences and things I’ve been through in life. Even if you can just relate to someone or understand someone, that in itself can make a difference, knowing that someone understands you in this world.
