Treat yoself to a CBD-infused burger at Carl’s Jr. on 420

by Amanda Push

More and more national companies are seeing the light (aka the potential to make money) and jumping on the cannabis wagon.

Chain restaurant Carl’s Jr. is the latest in a line of well-known brands, including CVS Pharmacy, to offer a CBD-infused product, and in their case, it’s a burger. Well, to be more specific, it’s a CBD-infused sauce on the burger, according to CNBC.

To their credit, Carl’s Jr. is the first national fast food chain to offer a CBD-infused option to the menu. How brave!

Unfortunately, unless you live in Denver, you’re probably not going to have a chance to taste test this burger anytime soon. The restaurant is only offering the specialty burger at one of their Denver locations on April 20, and you can probably guess why that particular date was chosen.

The burger in question is the Rocky Mountain High: CheeseBurger Delight, and it includes two beef patties, pepper jack cheese, a smattering of pickled jalapeños, waffle fries (solid call), and Santa Fe sauce infused with about 5 milligrams of hemp-extracted CBD. The burger will sell for … wait for it … $4.20.

For those of you who don’t quite know what CBD is and are wondering how it’s going to affect the burger consumer, let’s do a quick rundown. CBD is a chemical that can be extracted from hemp and marijuana plants that will NOT get you high. Instead, many believe the compound offers an array of health benefits, including treating anxiety, pain, issues with sleeping, skin problems, etc.

Hemp was federally legalized in December 2018.
