Durango Street Style: Accessible fashion and all of the heels

by Patty Templeton

Everywhere you look, there’s a neck buttoned-up halter with a chest cut-out. Totally 1980s and très cool, DGO approves. We passed by Silk Sparrow, 801 Main Ave., and saw Jessica Snowberger behind the counter. She wore a striking, sunshiny floral blouse. Snowberger has style for miles and talked to us about her approach to fashion.

“My style is versatile. It’s mostly florals and patterns. I don’t go too over the top but I don’t like plain stuff. I’m usually in heels. I’m naturally tall already so it’s weird I would like heels, but I like the look of heels: Stilettos, chunky, booties, I just love the variety of heels. I look to stilettos to get fancy-fancy when I’m going to dinner or a job interview. Chunky heels are better for fall and are more versatile and comfortable.

I go to University of Wyoming and I’m here for the summer. I want to be a fashion designer. I want my own company. That’s the goal … I find fashion and how you can express yourself with clothing super interesting. I want to be able to help people express themselves. I feel like we look at people and make judgments by the story their clothes tell. I want to help people project their best story.

I don’t have a specific brand name I love, except Kate Spade. I like the aesthetic of that, but I don’t like how expensive name brands get. You’re paying for the name, not the object. I would love to make fashion that is more affordable for normal people.”
