For the activists among us

Feel like standing up for a cause? Join the campaign to protect Wolf Creek Pass – or just catch a pretty cool movie that features extraordinary footage – Thursday during Fort Lewis College’s Winterfest.

“Jumbo Wild” is a film that details a fight against development in British Columbia’s Jumbo Valley. For more than 24 years, development of the Jumbo Glacier Ski Resort has continued to move forward despite overwhelming opposition.

There will also be a presentation about the campaign to protect Wolf Creek Pass from a similar threat.

The film is sponsored by San Juan Citizens Alliance, FLC Environmental Center, Student Union Productions at FLC, FLC Outdoor Pursuits and FLC Big Mountain Team.

The movie will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Vallecito Room in the Student Union Building. Admission is free, and the event is open to both the campus and community.
