Marijuana-themed Cheba Hut opening new sandwich shop in Colorado Springs

by Amanda Push

“Eating a sandwich” might be the “How I Met Your Mother” euphemism for smoking weed but a Fort Collins-based restaurant chain is taking that G-rated explanation Ted used and turning it literal (kind of) for the stoners and sandwich fans of Colorado Springs.

Cheba Hut, a cannabis-themed restaurant chain, is now opening up a sandwich shop on the northwest side of Colorado Springs. The shop will, of course, be marijuana-themed and will be located near Interstate 25 and Fillmore Street. The chain’s food does not contain marijuana; instead, the restaurant is in the business of “curing munchies” and celebrating the green via its name (cheeba is slang for weed) and its sandwiches named after pot strains.

The chain was started by Scott Jennings in 1998 while he was in college. Today, the business has locations including Albuquerque, Denver, Las Vegas, and Madison, Wis.

The restaurant is expected to open June 1, according to The Gazette.
