Local Americana artist Sunny Gable released her first solo album, “Audience of One,” on Nov. 29. A deeply personal project, Gable recorded the entire album in her house.
“I wanted to record something that was very representative of me as a musician, and I play a lot of the instruments and do all the harmonies,” she said. “It’s definitely a labor of love.”
Gable came up with the concept for the album while pregnant within her now year-and-a-half-year-old son, Finn.
“We had this moment in the pregnancy that I found out that Finn has Down syndrome,” she said. “It felt so devastating at the time. We didn’t know what to expect or what was going to happen, and I had this thought in my mind as well – there goes my music career, this is it.”

“It’s kind of accepting it for whatever it is – as long as I’ve got my audience of one, it’s all good,” she said.
Gable said the first track on the album, “Rise,” is about perseverance.
“Sometimes you get up with the best of intentions and by the time you go to bed, you’re kind of beat down, but you get up and do it again,” she said. “No matter what life throws at me, I always come back and keep going because that’s what you gotta do, I guess.”
Gable’s next album is already brewing.
“I’ve got, I think, eight of the ten tracks already completely written. I’m pretty excited to jump on that project. I call it my men behaving badly album. I have a lot of songs about ex-boyfriends, drunks – lots of different ways to relay the message about just kind of being a woman in a man’s world.”
In the meantime, “Audience of One” is available on most music streaming platforms.
