This week, meet two single firefighters who have been busy with the 416 fire. (Both are guys; sorry, fellas.) But while they may be oh-so-busy saving our literal asses, that doesn’t mean they don’t have time to spark a new relationship. It is way too easy to make stupid puns about these smokin’ singles. We cannot contain ourselves. Let’s just meet the hotties before we start talking about hoses.

If you’re interested in setting up a date, email us at [email protected] and tell us about yourself. Maybe it will lead to a date.

If you want to be featured or know somebody who is single and ready for romance, drop us a line.

Justin Giorno

Age: 24

Occupation: San Juan Hotshot Crew wildland firefighter

Sign: Capricorn

Tell me about your job. We usually have a group of three or four saw teams and the rest just dig hand line around the fire. We are the front lines.

What do you train for? All of the training is just physical. Being physically fit. Know what the fire is doing (and) when it is going to do it.

What’s too hot? I’ve been where you can’t stand within three or four feet. We usually don’t try to put ourselves in those situations. We try to be a little smarter, but there has been times we’ve had to run out from the fire.

How hot is that? 200 degrees, plus.

What’s your poison? That depends. In the summer, I love tequila. Tequila and OJ. In the winter, I love Captain and Coke. After fighting fire, you basically drink anything. Anything that will make you feel good. I’m also a red wine fanatic. My family, we make our own red wine because my grandparents are from Italy. It’s been in the family for generations.

So, are you full Italian? My mom’s Spanish. My dad is full Italian. His parents come from Italy in the ’50s.

Why are you still single? I think it has a lot to do with my day-to-day life. I work two weeks on, two days off, so during the whole summer I’m basically gone. We do about 1,000 hours overtime in an average summer.

What qualities do you look for in a person? She has to be super sweet and talkative. I am a very big talker, and even if she doesn’t talk a bunch, just an active listener. I like someone to have good conversations with, and being able to go out and go around the bar scene and not worry about anything that I’m doing because I’m going to be talking. I’m a social butterfly.

What lights your fire?Usually I have to put fire out so… A dark-haired girl with green eyes and a pretty smile. You don’t see that often. A girl that knows what she is worth and doesn’t downplay herself too much. I have been single for so long, I know exactly what I am capable of and what I can do, so a girl that know that about herself. That will light my fire.

What is “so long”?It’s probably been four or five years. Yeah it’s been a while. You really have time to find yourself, which is really nice. You have to find yourself before you find somebody else.
