Considering buying real estate? For about $375,000 you might be able to get a three bedroom, two bathroom home on the outskirts of Durango. Or you could live in a decommissioned Titan II missle complex in Arizona.
It’s a bit of a fixer-upper, but if geopolitics go south and society collapses, where would you feel more safe?
Naturally, the Zillow listing doesn’t describe the potential living space within the underground complex. But based on the illustration of the property when it was in use, there appears to be a bedroom and a bathroom above the “launch control center.” You could also consider the emergency shower and eyewash fountain at the base of the silo to be a second bathroom.
Scratch out the “a” in “launch control center” and add some kitchen appliances, and you’ve got a delightfully post-apocalyptic area to prepare and eat your meals.
The complex is very secure, featuring what looks like at least nine blast doors. But with stairs, an elevator, and escape hatches leading to an escape ladder to the surface, it’d also be easy to get outside and enjoy the 12-acre parcel.
According to the listing, it has easy access to Tuscon and is only 20 minutes away from supplies. It’s currently under contract, but the seller might be taking backup offers. Titan II missle not included.
