Why does CO love presidential hopeful Andrew Yang so much? ‘Must be the weed’

by Amanda Push

Andrew Yang, a 2020 democratic presidential candidate and apparently Colorado favorite, has been polling pretty well in the Mile High State.

On Tuesday, a Colorado poll revealed that Yang was doing much better here than in other primary states, according to Newsweek.

After the Emerson Polling data results were released, Yang, who appears to get us weird Coloradoans, tweeted on August 20, “4% in Colorado. Must be the weed :)”.

This stance probably shouldn’t be too surprising as Yang’s website does state the following as far as his official stance on cannabis:

“Marijuana is still considered a controlled substance by federal law. Thousands are in jail for marijuana-related offenses, particularly people of color. We need to resolve the ambiguity and legalize marijuana at the federal level. This would improve safety, social equity, and generate tens of billions of dollars in new revenue based on legal cannabis businesses.”

Overall, Yang ranked sixth in the poll, trailing behind Bernie Sanders (26 percent), Joe Biden (25 percent), Elizabeth Warren (20 percent), and Pete Buttigieg (5 percent).
