Mile High Labs just became the Willa Wonka and the Chocolate Factory of Colorado. Instead of making chocolate, however, Mile High Labs works with CBD products that come from hemp and we think that’s just as great.
Earlier this month, the company opened a monolithic facility measuring 400,000 square feet in Broomfield, according to Westword. The construction is such a feat, in fact, that Governor Jared Polis crowned the day it opened, October 8, as Mile High Labs Day.
The new facility is part of Polis’s push to grow the Colorado hemp industry.
“We know what’s worked to grow our agricultural sectors, and it’s no different for hemp,” Polis said at the American Herbal Products Association in August. “It’s a big part of our rural economic initiative.”
Polis is such an advocate of hemp that even his business cards are made from the plant.
“We’re particularly interested in creating jobs in growing sectors,” Polis said at the facility’s grand opening. “We have the most knowledgeable and talented hemp workforce in the country.”
Eventually, Mile High Labs may even reach down to southern Colorado to build another facility, according to Ryan Keeler, the company’s director of operations. Keeler told Westword that the company is in the process of “building another Mile High monster down south.”
