Durango street style: Outdoor wedding guest wear

by Patty Templeton

Getting hitched at Purgatory Ski Resort is an #InstaPerfect wedding. I mean, come on, a mountaintop wedding in the bracing air with the wide sky and natural wonders for a backdrop? Bless it and yes.

We might have any idea of what the bride and groom will be wearing, but what the heck do wedding attendees wear? Guest Brittany Cupp went with a bold floral pattern and fabulous autumn colors.

“I got this dress at Blu Boutique in town. The wedding is at the top of the mountain, so I put it over a turtleneck dress because it’s cold up there. Hence the hat, too.

I would call it mountain casual chic. Pure Durango that’s functional and fashionable.

Now that I’m in my 30s, I don’t really care as much. This summer I was in cut-off shorts and flip-flops all the time. T-shirts everywhere. I called it “The Dude” or hobo-chic. It’s freeing to not care as much as when you were younger. But there’s a part of it, if you love style and fashion, which I have my whole life, where it’s nice to come back to caring when you choose to. It’s nice to take a break, but I always come back to caring and adding fashion back into life.

Today was probably the best adventure I’ve had in this dress. I got to ride on a beautiful chairlift today and go to the top of the mountain and watch beautiful people get married.”
