Get ready, gamers. Exciting announcements are ahead, as Entertainment Software Association presents the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) June 8-13.
E3 is the largest international gaming event, and features over 200 vendors hosting demonstrations and showcasing products related to computer and console gaming at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, California.
ESA is an organization that conducts consumer research and represents the video game industry on the federal and state levels. ESA is supported by over 30 dues-paying companies, most of which will host individual press conferences to announce new developments and upcoming titles. Those companies include Bethesda Softworks, Epic Games, Gearbox Publishing, Microsoft Corporation Nexon America, Nintendo of America, Square Enix, Ubisoft and more.
The expo is essentially a marketing event for designers, developers, distributors, programmers, publishers and retailers to network and present products to competitors and consumers for feedback and testing. Though E3 has always been an industry trade show, ESA opened the show to the public in 2017, allowing fans to experience the show for the first time. While more than 69,000 people attended the show in 2018, making it the largest on record, some companies have decided to skip the conference this year.
Sony Interactive Entertainment announced last year that they would not return to E3 2019, but Activision Blizzard and Electronic Arts (better known as EA) recently announced they would not have booths at the event. Instead, Activision is focused on meetings and EA plans to host a separate event called EA Play. The event kicks off June 8 with gameplay reveals over several livestreams. Fans can expect news on Anthem, Apex Legends, Jedi: Fallen Order and sports titles like NBA and FIFA.
Even without presentations from those big wigs, the conference schedule is packed. Viewers can expect news information about the next generation of console gaming and titles including Gears 5, Borderlands 3, Final Fantasy VIII, and DOOM Eternal. There are sure to be more surprises, and you won’t want to miss them. Plebs (like us) who can’t attend this exclusive event can watch via livestream on Mixer, Twitch or YouTube.
