Asking questions about cannabis can be intimidating. Even if you consider yourself a moderate level weed connoisseur, things, like going into a dispensary and asking people questions, can be intimidating. Combine cannabis confusion with any medical questions you might have and you have a recipe for mass mental chaos.
Never fear. Colorado nurses Katherine Golden and Jennifer Axcell are ready and waiting for your questions with their up and coming hotline, Leaf411.

“For many people, it can be hard to find specific answers in the abundance of cannabis information out there. Getting educated on cannabis is like learning a new language, it’s always easiest to learn with the help of someone already fluent.”

Golden and Axcell met while working at a Boulder medical marijuana clinic, according to Westword. After working together for years, they decided to launch a hotline to answer questions.
“This is a profession people feel comfortable talking to,” Axcell told Westword. “Because of the legal nature of this plant federally, so many nurses are forced to talk about cannabis in a behind-the-scenes manner.”
The plan is to launch the hotline by September. The two are applying for funding with the State of Colorado under a provision that earmarks tens of millions of dollars in marijuana tax revenue for education and public health, according to Westword. They hope to have four nurses working the hotline twelve hours a day, five days a week, by the end of the first year, Golden said.
“We really wanted this to be a service that is majority-funded by the cannabis industry,” Axcell said. “Because they’re the ones who benefit from an educated consumer.”
