Wanna learn what it takes to grow hemp? Of course you do!
Kind Hemp Co. will host Durango’s first hemp event, Hemp Connections. The event will take place 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 7 at the La Plata County Fairgrounds. The cost is $5 for adults and free for children under the age of 12.
“This is the first hemp event in Durango so we know there is a ton of potential in the area for folks to get involved with hemp,” said Savannah Hargis, co-owner of Kind Hemp. “With the legalization of the 2018 Hemp Farm Bill there is now the opportunity for the country to legally grow hemp.”
There are more than 50,000 uses for hemp, and the products created from the plant tend to be environmentally friendly.
“So they are actually healthy for our planet to grow and then they biodegrade and decompose back to the Earth when we are finished with them,” Hargis said.
During the event, Hemp Connections will connect the Four Corners community with information and companies in the hemp industry. On the farming side, they will introduce seed/clone companies to farmers and show them organic methods to grow a hemp crop. They will showcase hemp CBD companies that want to educate people about what CBD is and what it can do to help you. There will be the opportunity to meet hemp companies in the area and check out hemp products of all kinds.
“Our mission at Kind Hemp Co. is to educate the world about hemp,” Hargis said. “We saw a need for that in our own town Durango and knew we could help show the community what hemp can do.”
