Edible review: Dixie Berry Lemonade Elixer

by Sir Blaze Ridcully

It isn’t often that I choose to go with a cannabis-infused beverage when I want to kick back and get stoned, but whenever I do, I always wonder why I don’t do it more often.

My latest cannabis-infused beverage misadventure involved the Dixie Berry Lemonade Elixir because, if I’m being honest, I REALLY miss summer. This never-leaving-my-home stuff because of COVID-19 AND cold winter weather is killing my vibe. And I’m just bored so I was hoping Dixie Berry Lemonade Elixir would give me the taste of summer I’ve been looking for.

This Dixie Berry Lemonade Elixir bottle came in a 100 mg serving size, but apparently can be found in 200 mg-sized bottles as well in certain markets. Dixie elixir flavors also come in cherry limeade, fruit punch, half and half, and root beer.

While all those other flavors sound friggin’ delicious, I was 100 percent confident in my decision. As I should have been. The berry lemonade was delicious and was apparently exactly what I needed. It was sweet and smooth. My only regret was that I couldn’t drink the whole bottle at once. As much as my tolerance has gone up during this nightmare of a pandemic, I haven’t let my tolerance get quite that out of control. Yet.

I decided to have a few sips of the Dixie Berry Lemonade Elixir on one particularly sunny weekend and, for the first time all winter, was finally able to hang out on my back porch without freezing to death.

It only took about 30-45 minutes before I felt the effects of this delicious beverage, and it was thankfully quite the pleasant high. I’ve had a lot of anxiety-inducing highs as of late so it was a relief just to be able to sit and enjoy a cheerful buzz (damn you, indicas).

Alas, my heavenly high was not to last.

When I got up to go back inside, in true form, I ended up dumping almost the entire rest of the bottle of Dixie Berry Lemonade Elixir on myself. To say I was devastated was an understatement. Twenty bucks down the drain. However, I could still enjoy the calming and tipsy effects of what I had been able to toss back during my short stint on the porch.

I headed back inside to clean up and try my hand at playing a video game. Turns out, while Dixie Berry Lemonade Elixir is great for relaxing while you sit out on your porch, it is terrible for navigating a video game in which not only do you have to fight off monsters, but also need two brain cells to rub together so you’re not going around in circles completely lost.

Eventually, I took my cue that it was time to call it a day and threw on, what else, but my favorite show, “Forensic Files.” It’s a bit of a strange combination, weed and old school true crime shows, but I embrace it nonetheless. The munchies were strong with this one and I found myself double fisting chips and cheese snacks. I wasn’t even hungry. I was just operating instinctively on the idea that I desperately needed food to survive this high.

Over time, the calm that weighed heavily over my brain like a cozy blanket and I passed out on my couch, and woke up with back pain the next day. The joys of being an old, or something along those lines.

There’s no getting around it: Dixie Berry Lemonade Elixir is a fun high. No doom clouds of anxiety hanging over head, just lots of junk food and couch drooling. Just make sure to clear your calendar of anything important before you decide to partake. Trust me, it’s not a good idea.
