7th Annual Unchain my heART – a multimedia youth art show

La Plata Youth Services invites you to the 7th Annual, and 1st VIRTUAL, Exhibition for Unchain My heART, a youth multimedia art show at www.lpys.org.

The Unchain my heART exhibit gives young artists who share a joy of creating art the opportunity to display their work in a professional setting, engage with professionals in the art world, and add a gallery exhibition to their resume. All monies raised through art sales will go directly to the artist. Local businesses may sponsor the event by contacting LPYS. The exhibit will run from February 18 – March 4, 2021 at www.lpys.org.

Since 1994, La Plata Youth Services has supported and advocated youth facing challenges in school, home or court by providing them with the support and services they need.

An Evening with Victoria Vox & Jack Maher

The Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College (Online)

The Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College is continuing the Artists You Should Know Concert Series with Victoria Vox (ukulele, voice & mouth trumpet) and Jack Maher (bass ukulele, voice & guitar) broadcast from their home in Los Angeles, California.

Victoria and Jack reconnected 18 years after their first meeting at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. Both established performers in their own right, they eloped in 2016 and have labeled their duo performances under the moniker, Jack & the Vox. Stylistically they are a bit Americana, jazz, folk, and pop, but really, there are no boundaries and have an extensive catalog of original tunes. In 2019, they toured the East Coast (US), Canada, Czech Republic, the U.K., and Germany.

Tickets are $15 for individual and $25 for family households and on-sale now. A private link will be sent to all ticket purchasers the week prior to the event and is valid for 48 hours. Don’t wait until the last minute!

Online Usui/Holy Fire® III Reiki Master Class

Pre-requisite: To qualify to take this training a student must have taken Reiki I & II Classes and practiced Reiki II for a minimum of 6 months prior.

Join us on Zoom for an online Reiki Master class. These classes are designed to help you learn advanced techniques for using Reiki to solve problems and achieve goals. The Usui Master Practitioner attunement increases the strength of Reiki energy that you channel. New symbols will be learned and the method to give others attunements. Using crystals and stones with Reiki, and making a grid that continues sending Reiki will also be taught.

There will be plenty of allotted time for practicing and building confidence with administering Reiki attunements and ignitions. Once the Master level is successfully attained students will be eligible to teach and attune others to Reiki I/II, and Master. Even so, many choose to take the class for their own use and ability to offer Reiki to family and friends. This class is a powerful healing experience.

Upon successful completion of the class, Touchpoint Therapy, LLC provides a student certificate issued by the ICRT (International Center for Reiki Training).

A digital manual, “Usui/Holy Fire® III Reiki Master Manual Online and In-Person” by William Lee Rand and a year’s subscription to the Reiki News magazine is also included.

Deposit is non-refundable but may be applied to a future class within 12 months.

Durango Grit Gathering

9th and 10th Streets from Main to Narrow Gauge will be blocked off to traffic and parking to create an area for people to safely gather in Downtown. Tables, chairs, heaters and lighting will be brought in to create a space to enjoy take out from a local restaurant and listen to live entertainment. QR codes will be at every table that link you to Downtown restaurants to place your order. Pick up your food and then enjoy a meal in Downtown! BID also encourages you to also stroll around Downtown to do some shopping, and will have lists at the tables with information on stores that are open and any specials they might be offering.

Masks are required when you are in Downtown, and are thus required in the Durango Grit Gathering spaces, except when you are actively eating. Tables will be socially distanced and a limited number of people are allowed inside the areas at one time to help ensure everyone’s safety. Please bring your mask and listen to the volunteers that are working the entrances.

Ireland with Michael is a Celtic music performance by Emmy® nominated Irish tenor, Michael Londra. Get a taste of Ireland and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day from the safety of home as we virtually tour Michael’s homeland of Ireland.

Michael is host to a new travel and music series coming to PBS in the spring of 2021 and this performance incorporates aspects of that as he takes us from Irish villages to the National Opera House in Wexford performing and sharing Irish culture.
