Burger King’s meatless patties are coming America’s way

Get your burger bibs out vegetarians cuz Burger King is delivering the Impossible Whopper across the nation.

It might not be a Krabby Patty, but this meatless wonder kicked so much ass at its trial run in St. Louis that the Burger King overlords have decided to share with everyone else. In fact, by the end of the year, 7,200 branches across the country will be slapping the burger on their menus, according to Vox.

“The Impossible Whopper test in St. Louis went exceedingly well and as a result there are plans to extend testing into additional markets in the very near future,” the company wrote in a statement. “Burger King restaurants in St. Louis are showing encouraging results and Impossible Whopper sales are complementing traditional Whopper purchases.”

If the Impossible brand is sounding familiar, it’s because it’s a product of Impossible Foods, a startup company that is now partnering with BK.

The vegetarian patties are made with soy protein, potato protein, coconut oil, sunflower oil, and heme, a protein made from soybean roots. It’s a texture that’s pretty similar to meat, so if you’re a beef lover trying to cut back, this is not an impossible burger to fall in love with.
